A glimpse of the job:
We’re seeking a seasoned management professional for the position of Assistant Vice President and Executive Director of Admissions. Your years of management experience will enable your successful administrative oversight as you ensure the overall quality and integrity of undergraduate student admissions and recruitment strategies with the Office of Admissions which includes Admissions Counseling, Admissions Processing, Data Analytics and CRM, Military Admissions, Prospective Student Centers, Recruitment, Strategic Partnerships, and the Visitors Center. Your leadership and expertise will oversee the successful execution of several aspects of the university’s strategic enrollment plan, including the identification of key markets, collaborative establishment of annual goals, the strategic and ethical management of the campus admissions process and the implementation of key initiatives to support the University’s enrollment goals. The successful candidate may have years of progressively responsible leadership in student services in a higher education setting, experience managing complex admissions processes, extensive knowledge of undergraduate recruitment, and a proven track record of implementing and managing strategies in a competitive admissions environment. Ideal candidates may also demonstrate ability and experience with supporting first-generation students of socioeconomically underprivileged status to navigate and resolve issues that impact student matriculation

 

Essential Duties/Tasks

Administrative Leadership – Provide administrative oversight of Admissions, Recruitment, and campus Engagement (Strategic Partnerships and Visitors Center). Directs complex undergraduate and graduate admissions processes with integrity, including analysis; policy proposals; initiation, implementation, management, and evaluation of processes and procedures. Directs, supervises, and facilitates the services of the Office of Admissions through the professional and support staff and student employees. Manages and executes the strategic enrollment plans for the university, balancing the enrollment goals each year associated with the academic quality and overall enrollment targets. Continuously evaluates and refines admissions processes and policies to ensure an effective and efficient operation, including the use of technology to enhance those operations.  Facilitates transparent and customer service focused operations, including appropriate appeal processes. Collaborates with the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies and the academic colleges and schools on graduate admission applications, processing, and decisions. Provides information and reporting to management. Recommends new departmental and University-wide policies or revisions to existing policies.

Recruitment – Promotes strategies and tactics that increase the admissions application pool overall and from underrepresented groups, and undergraduate students. Develops and promotes recruitment strategies for out of state and international undergraduate students. Evaluates the recruitment goals and processes annually, identifying opportunities for increased effectiveness, and redeploy resources as needed to support those goals. Works closely with the Director of Enrollment Marketing regarding enrollment marketing plans and strategies designed to attract all students, as well as the design and creation of print and electronic media.

Management – Oversees and manages the Office of Admissions budgets and personnel ensuring the effective use of resources and the appropriate deployment of staff to meet office priorities. Attends and participates in campus leadership meetings, including the meetings of the Academic Operations Committee, Graduate Council, and the Office of Student Success. Provides leadership both on and off campus as it relates to admissions, including attendance, as warranted at TACRAO and other state and national events and functions. Maintains a professional presence with the Coordinating Board, College Board, ACT, and other national, regional, and state professional organizations. Ensures compliance across the Office of Admissions with policies set by the Texas A&M University System, Board of Regents, SACSCOC, THECB, NCAA, and other regulatory organizations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ten years of progressively responsible management experience, including some supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in higher education or related field.
Ten years of experience working within a university system encompassing multiple campuses with inter-related goals.
