Essential Functions: 

The Dean of Enrollment Management will provide strategic leadership to and supervise the business processes associated with the recruitment, admission, and financing of students for the College. The Dean directly supervises the Director of Admissions/Registrar and the Director of Financial Aid. This position is responsible for staff recruitment and training, budget oversight, as well as program/service development, and implementation of the college’s mission and vision. This position creates and implements the College’s Strategic Enrollment Management Plan (accreditation, assessment, and student success) and ensures all mandated reports and guidelines are completed and followed. The Dean will provide thoughtful design and delivery of high-caliber services and resources for students in the pre-matriculation process and throughout their lifecycle as they transition into and through the educational experience. Responsible for the following departments: Admissions/Registrar and Financial Aid.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Reports directly to the Vice President of Student Success and Engagement (VPSSE), maintaining a good working relationship and communications with the VPSSE, supporting him/her in carrying out the division’s responsibilities through the resources, activities, and initiatives of the division.
  • Oversees the leadership and supervision for the staffing CBC Admissions/Registrar and Financial Aid, providing clear direction, fostering collaboration, engaging in shared decision-making, resolving work problems, communicating expectations, training employees, evaluating performance, and developing professional growth opportunities.
  • Functions as a team member with the other deans and directors within the College in the delivery of quality support services to students, staff, faculty, and others involved in the educational process within the scope of the division’s resources mission, and capabilities.
  • Under the general direction of the VPSSE and in cooperative leadership with the staff, develop the strategic enrollment management plan and departmental goals.
  • Supervises budgeting and business operation procedures and implements cost-saving, risk-mitigation, and best practices that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the offices.
  • Supervises and is involved in the day-to-day operation of the offices. Ultimately responsible for carrying out budgeting, staffing, planning, and record-keeping as well as development and evaluation of services of the admissions, registrar, and financial aid functions.
  • Maintains viable working relationships within the division as well as with other personnel of the College, to carry out, with positive results, the mission of the division, and the College.
  • Provides leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programs and services, including those designed to improve access to educational experiences and credential completion.
  • Explains, interprets, follows, and enforces college policies as well as state and federal rules and regulations, especially as they relate to the various functions of enrollment management.
  • Serves as a liaison between the division and internal and external departments, groups, agencies, and individuals to maintain partnerships and share information. Works with student service staff and outside agencies to refer students to resources that assist with successful transition to the learning environment.
  • Coordinates enrollment management processes with faculty, and with academic leadership. Implements all services as educational opportunities consistent with the principles of a community college.
  • Responsible for timely publishing and updates of all publications overseen by the area, including the Student Handbook, catalog, various web pages, community referral lists, advising guides, etc.
  • Oversees the facilitation of workshops and outreach opportunities related to enrollment management (e.g., application workshops, financial aid information sessions, prospective student visits, campus tours, etc.).
  • Ensures that activities and events originating in enrollment management are coordinated with other College units and included on the college’s event calendar and other publications.
  • Communicates needs of prospective and current students in a complete and timely way and informs staff of critical information from the other parts of the College and external environment that are relevant to their work.
  • Serves as the College’s chief student recruiter and leads the outreach efforts of the College to attract prospective students into academic programs.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of academic celebrations such as commencement and nursing pinning ceremonies.
  • Serves as a resource for faculty and staff on enrollment management issues and practices.
  • Provide overall leadership, in close collaboration with the other Deans on campus to ensure that programs reflect the educational philosophy and goals of the College District and follow accreditation standards.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of reports to the appropriate funding agencies in compliance with requirements and conditions under the Division of Student Success and Engagement.
  • Collaborates with various areas within and outside of the Student Service Division (e.g., Instruction, Information Technology, Institutional Effectiveness and Research, etc.) to facilitate student success, retention, and persistence.
  • Represents the College on relevant local, statewide, and national committees and boards such as local workforce workgroups, the statewide professional associations for Admissions (TACAC and TACRAO) and financial aid (TASFAA), and other groups related to division goals and objectives.
  • Remain current on issues of student development, evolving trends impacting students, legal issues, and the regulatory environment, including but not limited to student rights and responsibilities and admissions/financial aid best practices.
  • In partnership with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, develop metrics to ensure accountability, tracking, and monitoring of inequities in services and student enrollment.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the College President and VPSSE.

Other Duties: 

Will participate in college responsibilities such as professional development, strategic planning, appropriate Committees, and SACSCOC compliances.

Ensures student confidentiality and due process are followed.

Travel Requirements: 

Will require regular travel within the district and occasional travel outside the district.

Environment: 

Work is generally performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions and changes in the workflow/volume depending on the time in the term.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Master’s Degree in higher education administration, business, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Three years experience working in higher education in financial aid and/or admissions.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Minimum of five years in a community college admissions or financial aid setting; experience in student and disability services is preferred. Proven skills in conflict resolution. Experience in strategic enrollment management planning, policy development, and outcome/needs assessment. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written and oral format. knowledge of student services and student development education; knowledge and understanding of state and federal laws about financial aid administration including Pell Grants, Hazlewood and Veteran’s Affairs funding, and FAFSA administration.

Salary and Compensation:

Salary will range from $68,905 to $73,728. A position at CBC includes attractive paid vacation, sick and personal time, and employer-paid health insurance (for employees) through BCBS among many other great, cost-effective PPO benefit options and retirement plans.
