ECU Undergraduate Admissions oversees the recruitment and admissions processes for all undergraduate student types and is responsible for processing approximately 36,000 applications yearly, including first-year students, transfer, readmit, visitor, non-degree, pre-college, and auditor students. The Undergraduate Admissions Office is responsible for identifying, attracting and enrolling students in sufficient numbers to meet the University’s enrollment projections while improving the quality of the student population. Due to the efforts of the full undergraduate admissions team, ECU has seen increases in first-year student enrollment and incoming transfer enrollment in fall 2023 and fall 2024. Fall 2024 marked the third consecutive year of record undergraduate applications. The Admissions Office’s activities are performed by a dedicated team which includes a substantial operations and processing staff, administrative support staff, technical support staff, as well as counselors, assistant directors, associate directors, and senior associate directors.

The Director for Undergraduate Admissions will be an experienced admissions and enrollment leader who possesses a comprehensive understanding of higher education admissions processes and trends with a demonstrated track record and expertise in data-driven decision making. The ideal candidate will value working in a team-oriented environment and will have the collaborative mindset needed to work with diverse constituents, including faculty, staff, and external partners. The Director for Undergraduate Admissions will project knowledge and confidence and value opportunities to engage with prospective students, parents, high school counselors, and others seeking to attend East Carolina University.

The Director for Undergraduate Admissions will possess a master’s degree with five years of related experience in administration of an admissions-related office. The ideal candidate will have experience developing, leading, and/or supporting recruitment events for middle, high school, and college-aged students, experience with integrated student information systems; and possess current knowledge of the enrollment landscape and best practices for communicating with potential students.
