Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment and Financial Assistance, the Director of Admissions provides strategic leadership to a staff of 25 professional and clerical employees, temporary staff, and a number of student workers to achieve University objectives and enrollment goals.

Contribute to the successful accomplishment of the University’s enrollment objectives by supporting the university mission, vision and aligning with the Success by Design strategic plan. Develop, manage and implement a strategic plan for the recruitment of undergraduate students to attract academically qualified and culturally, ethnically, economically, geographically, and socially diverse learners.

Ensure the efficient processing of undergraduate and graduate admission applications by developing and administering policies, procedures, and systems that provide quality admission services for prospective students.

Oversee the management of Student Databases and Client Relationship Management System (Slate experience preferred) and marketing and strategic communications to position NKU as a top-choice institution.

Develop data-driven recruitment strategies by effectively utilizing data from a variety of sources to evaluate student characteristics and trends, as well as the University’s market position.

Manage all on campus and off campus recruitment programs including, high school, community college, community partners, large scale visit programs and new student orientation and family programs.

Work closely with Marketing and Communications regarding digital advertising, print literature and publications, social media and websites to support recruitment, yield and anti-melt efforts.

Oversee vendor partnerships to assist with recruitment and yield initiatives.

Be a collaborative leader to effectively communicate and maintain relationships with academic departments, the division of student affairs, alumni programs, intercollegiate athletics and other stakeholders to support recruitment and yield activities.

Foster an office environment that empowers staff to provide constituents with superior customer service.

Develop and maintain community partnerships to enhance recruitment strategies for freshmen and transfer students.

Utilize University resources in accomplishing enrollment objectives by planning, developing, and managing the department budgets.

Hire, train and provide professional development for staff members and led and manage with equity minded principles.

Serves as a member of the Enrollment and Degree Management team which includes, VP for Enrollment and Degree Management, Assistant VP for Enrollment and Financial Assistance, Assistant VP for Enrollment and Student Success, University Registrar, Director of University Connect and Persist, Director of Career Services and Director of Student Support Services and numerous University committees.
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience in a college or university admissions office, with at least three years at either assistant, associate or director level. Ability to track enrollment metrics and use data to make informed decisions to meet enrollment targets. Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, develop professional contacts with colleagues and be engaged in relevant professional development and involvement to stay abreast of regional and national trends.

Master’s Degree preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, administrative system implementation, event management experience, strong analytical and organizational skills, superior customer service experience and evidence of the ability to work successfully with college and university administrators and high school personnel is required.

Extremely detail orientated, diplomatic with an ability to exercise discretion and maintain privacy, critical thinking skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, prepare and deliver professional presentations.

Must have ability to make accurate and deliberate decisions in an often-high volume work environment.

Candidate must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
