Director of Undergraduate Admissions
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Develops recruitment strategies designed to meet application and admission targets. Makes data-informed decisions to support overall student recruitment activities
• Manages teams that execute both the primary and differentiating functions of student enrollment, including but not limited to outbound market recruiting, event management, partnership programs and other functions related to attracting and enrolling students
• Leads committee work with shared responsibility for enrollment outcomes. Oversees the admissions acceptance process that maximizes the number of qualified enrollments from the applicants in assigned areas
• Establishes campaigns and programs that evolve with market changes and new market opportunities. Works collaboratively to establish targets for outreach and ensure the university’s position as a leader in new initiatives
• Represents the university on- and off-campus to prospective students, parents, education professionals, and organizations involved in the college recruitment and selection process. Promotes RIT and its diverse educational and enrichment opportunities
• Counsels prospective applicants from diverse populations about the admission process and opportunities available at the university. Advises students about potential for admission
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Knowledge of enrollment management, student recruitment and admissions, and higher education
• Skill in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication to influence and articulate a variety of topics to different and diverse audiences
• Ability to learn state and federal laws and ethical principles of practice as outlined by the national association of college admissions counselors
• Ability to establish, define, and communicate program goals and objectives that support the strategic plan and planning, implementing, and evaluating programs
• Ability to operationalize programs through motivation, guidance, and coaching of others
Minimum Education & Experience
• Master’s degree in related field
• 7 years of relevant experience
• Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
Job Level Overview
Management and People Leadership Level 3 – Heads a department, multiple smaller functions with a department, or a specialized function with institution-wide span. Integrates strategic thinking to drive cross functional initiatives to optimize efficiency, performance, and innovation.
Additional Details:
• Lead the development and implementation of data-informed recruitment strategies to meet enrollment goals
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the admissions team to ensure collaboration, care, trust, and professional growth
• Supervise the daily-visit and campus programs teams to ensure we create a hospitable and welcoming experience for prospective families
• Oversee hiring, training, and execution of the Undergraduate Admissions team
• Support the selection and yield process for first-year and transfer admissions
• Ensure that strategic partners, such as high school counselors and community-based organizations, are supported throughout the admissions cycle
• Collaborate effectively across the Enrollment Management team (Systems, Analytics and Operations, Marketing, and Financial Aid)
• Leverage technologies, in partnership with other EM teams, to manage the day-to-day outreach to prospective students and families
• PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT’s Safe Driving Policy.
