PURPOSE OF POSITION:     The Director of Admissions will lead the undergraduate recruitment efforts.  Working with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director will develop and implement an on-going student recruitment plan; to ensure that the institutional policies governing admissions criteria are observed and that all admissions activities and programs are carried out within the spirit and context of the mission of the University.   To interact with all employee groups at Seton Hill to assure effective and efficient systems are in place to recruit students for the traditional undergraduate programs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Directs and leads the professional recruitment staff and Welcome Center staff of the Admissions Office.
  • Works with the Marketing Director and Vice President for Enrollment Management to develop and implement a marketing plan for recruiting freshman and transfer students.
  • Monitors and administers an annual department budget.
  • Establishes and maintains efficient data collection systems; produces required statistical reports; utilizes data & research throughout the recruitment process.
  • Interfaces with other campus offices as required to seek assistance and cooperation to enhance the enrollment process for all students.
  • Convenes the Admissions Committee and ensures its active and effective functioning.
  • Involves alumni, faculty, and others actively in the admissions process by the establishment of appropriate programs and procedures.
  • Maintains a complete understanding of the liberal arts curriculum and the academic and residential programs of the University and assures appropriate training for the professional staff.
  • Maintains a complete understanding of financial aid regulations and procedures and works with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure that the staffs of both offices are presenting accurate, timely, and complete information to prospective students and their families.
  • Works with on- and off-campus constituents (including all academic, athletic, and student service areas) to enhance recruitment efforts and enthusiastically promote the University.
  • Understands, accepts, and promotes the essential character of the University.
  • Provides on-going staff training and development for the admissions staff.
  • Works with campus resources to incorporate technology into the recruitment process.
  • Takes part in committees and meetings, as requested, that will further the mission of the University.
  • Assists in monitoring competitors’ activities and strategies that may impact enrollment at Seton Hill University.
  • Performs all other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior experience as director or associate director of admissions or other comparable management experience in higher education.
  • Strong management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to travel within the University community and externally.
  • Valid Driver’s License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree
