Responsibilities:
This position will serve as a Specialist, responsible for providing a high level of service to users of the university’s degree audit and grading systems, preparing Office ad hoc reports and analytics, ensuring Office compliances with data reporting, and supporting projects related to student data feeds and data sharing agreements. As such, the incumbent will utilize specific knowledge of related regulations to interpret policies and procedures, solve problems, and handle student data. The position will operationalize academic degree requirements within the University’s current (uAchieve) and future (Workday Student Academic Progress Report – APR) degree audit systems. The incumbent serves as key member of the Workday APR configuration team, building academic requirements in preparation for Workday Student implementation, and maintaining academic requirements post-implementation. This position also supports activities associated with the University’s current (UMEG) and future (Workday Student) grading systems, monitoring grade entry, providing support to instructors, and reporting submission rates to administrators. The incumbent will create ad hoc reports and respond to requests for data for campus partners using SAS Enterprise Guide and Visual Analytics, or other reporting and analytics software, report student enrollment information to the NSLDS through the Clearinghouse, and will be involved in projects and processes related to student data feeds and data sharing agreements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education, training or experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
General knowledge of higher education required. Two to four years experience in related customer service, preferably in a higher education institution. Experience with spreadsheets and data analysis. Familiar with concepts related to query building, SQL, relational database, and report writing.
Excellent communication (in-person, telephone, and writing), interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills are required to interact with various campus stakeholders, to include students, faculty, academic advisors, IT staff, software vendors, etc. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities and deadlines simultaneously, with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-up. Ability to interpret and communicate policies and procedures associated with the Office of the Registrar, and working knowledge software applications, including Microsoft Suite. Knowledge of how to use student information systems and other computer-based systems to respond to inquiries in a timely manner. Ability to gather and summarize information from multiple sources, and present them (orally, in writing, and in report formats) effectively. Ability to analyze situations and facts from a variety of sources to exercise creativity, critical thinking skills, and independent judgment in resolving conflicts or recommending solutions to problems. Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate University System of Maryland and university policies, guidelines, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute complicated assignments on a continual basis with minimal assistance, supervision, and instruction. Demonstrated self-motivation and personal skills necessary to interact with university constituents and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to work independently and on a team.
Salary: $65,000 – $72,000
