Summary of Position:

Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing (VPEMM) is responsible for leading admissions, financial aid, communications, and marketing efforts for the University in a manner consistent with WPU’s core values. The VPEMM serves as a collaborative member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and is responsible for the overall planning, budgeting, staffing, and evaluation of admissions, financial aid, communications, and marketing activities. The VPEMM will effectively utilize data and partner with others in the department to lead enrollment efforts and meet goals, as well as lead formalized partnerships including a third party admissions and marketing technology, enrollment relationship management (CRM), and professional support and analysis in financial aid leveraging.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Substantially contribute to the development and execution of the University’s Strategic Plan, with particular focus on strategic growth.
  • Serve on the President’s Senior Leadership Team.
  • Create annual budgets. Evaluate and propose financial requirements for effective operations in assigned departments.
    Serve as a key advisor and lead staff on issues relating to profile development, enrollment, financial aid, internal and external communications, and public relations.
  • Serve as the principal University enrollment officer, integrating involvement of the other members of the SLT, faculty, the School of Professional Studies, directors, athletics, and student life professionals to facilitate enrollment growth and retention.

  • Create and execute a comprehensive enrollment strategy, inclusive of marketing, admission, and financial aid leveraging strategies.
  • Provide institutional enrollment management leadership throughout the student life cycle.
  • Articulate financial aid leveraging strategies consistent with the University’s net revenue goals.
  • Provide high-level oversight for all enrollment initiatives and collaborate with campus-wide retention initiatives.
  • Create and deliver presentations to key constituents including the Board of Trustees.
  • Serve as a staff liaison to the Student Life and Enrollment Committee on the Board of Trustees.
  • Serve as the chief public relations officer for the university and coordinate public relations efforts and activities, including crisis communications.
  • Direct strategic communication initiatives and activities.
  • Coach and mentor a team of enrollment professionals to achieve enrollment targets.
  • Provide continuing professional development opportunities for staff and ensure timely evaluation of systems, processes, and personnel.
  • Serve on University committees.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct reports to the VPEMM include the Assistant Vice President for Admissions; Director of Financial Aid; and Director of Integrated Marketing and Communications. The VPEMM has ultimate responsibility for leading and managing employees including overall direction; coordination of activities; and hiring, mentoring, appraising, and executing all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the University’s policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Progressive and successful experience in higher education enrollment management, including recruitment, admission, retention, and marketing for undergraduate and graduate audiences, and online and on-ground programs.
  • Ability to analyze data and apply sound judgment, draw accurate conclusions, and make appropriate and effective data-informed recommendations and decisions.
  • Proficiency in enrollment planning and forecasting.
  • Superior personnel management and leadership skills, including experience developing, leading, and coaching high performing, customer-facing teams.
  • Proactive leadership skills, with strong acumen in fostering teamwork and mentoring staff to fully develop their professional abilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a highly collaborative and collegial professional approach.
  • Excellent organizational, written communication, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of current technologies impacting enrollment and how to apply them to drive enrollment performance; hands-on experience with enrollment management systems.
  • Ability to bring an action-oriented attitude to daily work, building on the significant energies of a strong community of professionals.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, employees, community partners, and guests.
  • Ability to establish collegial and productive partnerships with other offices and colleagues to complete strategic projects and goals.
  • Knowledge of current issues facing higher education as well as traditional and current admissions, marketing, and communications, and financial aid strategies; knowledge of current marketing theories and techniques related to admissions efforts.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree with a record of progressively responsible related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and experience in higher education managing administrative departments
