AACRAO is seeking an Associate Executive Director- Meetings and Partnerships. As a member of the executive team, the Associate Executive Director, Meetings and Partnerships is responsible for directing all AACRAO meeting activities and relationships with companies and other AACRAO partners. The Associate Executive Director also represents the association externally at convenings, conferences, and other professional meetings.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the management and delivery of all AACRAO meetings and conferences including development of budgets, and, in collaboration with the executive team and conference directors, selects locations.
Partners with AACRAO Board of Directors and Program Committee to determine objectives and desired outcomes for AACRAO meetings (Annual Meeting, Tech/Transfer, and SEM). Assesses outcomes and adjusts future events accordingly.
Leads site reviews, research of venues, negotiation of contracts, and management of all attendee logistics including invitations, registration, meals, lodging and travel.
Works closely with Deputy Director to develop marketing, communications, and other promotional material and activities for the conferences.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the hospitality industry, practices and procedures including food and beverage management, proposal/budget development and control, and transportation/destination management.
Designs and executes all components for AACRAO’s exhibit hall at meetings including, but not limited to, vendor contracting, budgeting, design, and sponsor benefits fulfillment.
Collaborates with other AACRAO departments to integrate strategic plan goals and AACRAO Core Competencies and Proficiencies into the design of meetings, providing creative solutions and assistance around meetings management as needed.
Identifies opportunities for the development of new meeting and conference offerings and service technologies.
Serves as the AACRAO point of contact for companies, service providers, and other potential partners and develops strategies to build strategic, financial and content relationships.
Represents AACRAO at meetings, conferences, and convenings by delivering AACRAO updates and sessions/presentations on AACRAO initiatives.
Serves as a member of the Association’s Executive Team to set goals, define priorities and collaborate cross-functionally.
A successful candidate will have:
A minimum of 10 years of experience working in higher education, preferably in academic or enrollment services.
Strong work experience in at least two of the following: student records, admissions, or enrollment management, marketing/sales, conference/workshop development, project management, planning/budgeting and/or association management.
Strong customer service orientation with the ability to lead others to develop same.
Strong writing, public speaking and computer technology skills.
Ability to plan for and successfully communicate with diverse national and international audiences.
